Reform in Secondary Education: Inside Nigeria’s New National Continuous Assessment Mandate

In what represents one of the most sweeping structural overhauls of Nigeria’s secondary education system in recent history, the Federal Ministry of Education has officially released new uniform national Continuous Assessment (CA) guidelines. The policy forces national examination bodies—including the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), the National Examinations Council (NECO), and the National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS)—to establish secure, interoperable digital portals directly linked to the central Nigeria Education Data Infrastructure (NEDI).
